Display - LG.Philips LCD Kicks Off 6G Line
September 27, 2004
While panel prices continue their descent, LG.Philips LCD's sixth-generation TFT-LCD (Thin-film-transistor Liquid Crystal Display) plant has proceeded into mass production of large and wide panels for LCD TVs.

The plant, located in Gumi Korea, has begun manufacturing 32", 37", and 42" LCD TV panels, while mass production of panels for 17" PC monitors will map up the third quarter of 2005.

"P6" is the first sixth-generation plant outside Japan, as well as the first worldwide to use 1,500mm x 1,850mm glass substrates, a size favorable to large and wide TFT-LCD panel throughput. The company expects the third quarter of 2005 to see P6 reach its full monthly production capacity of 90,000 units.
